Atypyk "Be Tough" t-shirt

How much are you willing to pay for a tshirt? Even if it was the most badass tee on the planet, when do you stop and say, "I can't, it's too much."

Here's what's provoking this debate:

Cool shirt, right? It seems like a plain white tee, but then you turn around and it's like "Whoa, everyone be cool, she's packing heat!" And then you look closer and realize, "Wait, that's not a real gun, but I'm still kind of scared of her anyway." And that's the kind of reaction I hope to provoke with my wardrobe.

Not really-- but I do love wearing things that make people do a double-take, like the embroidered Locher's shirts Danielle posted about.

So I love it... but it's still a white, cotton t-shirt from American Apparel with a six-inch graphic printed on the back. It's not cashmere, it's not handmade, there's no complicated draping or pin-tucking or intricate detail that would convince me to shell out a little more cash. It's just someone's fun idea that they mass produced and are charging 40 bucks for.

You might think $40 isn't awful, but when you add $10 for shipping (which seems high, also; just throw it in an envelope and throw a few stamps on there, geez!), you're buying a $50 shirt. Ouch.

Charles and Marie Atypyk "Be Tough" T-shirt, $40 + $10 shipping

also, it is kinda dumb. Now, that doesn't necessarily mean you're dumb for wanting to buy it...but it doesn't exactly help your case. I am glad you didn't buy it so we can still be friends. Tell you what though, since I am your friend, go buy a white shirt from kmart, and I will help you draw a gun on the back with like a sharpie. You'll still look kinda dumb, but at least you won't have paid $50 for it.
